General Summary: 

The Electrician Apprenticeship Instructor has primary responsibilities for delivering the Electrician Apprenticeship training curriculum to students in the program. The instructor provides technical support, supervision, oversight and direction to assist in the learning process of apprentices using a combination of training methods that motivate students learning. *This will be a PRN “as needed” position *

Preferred Job Skills:

Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Desire to see others succeed by mentoring and sharing knowledge with others.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the National Electrical Code.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of electrical theory.
Basic computer skills demonstrating effective use of Microsoft Office products and use of Learning Management System (LMS/CMS)
Completion of a course of study in electrical construction under the direction and supervision of an established school or apprenticeship program.
Ability to complete objective without direct supervision. 
 

Mandatory Hiring Requirements:

References, Background Check, Drug Screen Testing, Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities: 

The Instructor uses multiple training techniques including presentation and lecture, hands on practices, partner member presentations, group presentations by students and other effective instructional methods in the Apprenticeship Training Program.

Uses the Curriculum to deliver PowerPoint presentations and visual aids.
Utilizes partner members that offer training and technical experts in a particular subject.
Completes annual training and/or Instructor Certification course(s).
Develops a lesson plan for each course date to ensure all learning objectives are covered in each class.
Possesses communicative skills including delivering a developed syllabus and the ability to speak to groups.
Communicates effectively and helps students develop good study habits.
Completes all administrative work on time such as grade submissions and attendance records.
Prepares and conducts student laboratory exercise related to the Curriculum.
Enforces Laboratory Safety Procedures, including Eye protection and proper lock out tag out procedures.
Attends instructor meetings as required.
Completes other duties as required and ask for assistance when needed.
Instructors are required to be available to provide extra help to students at times not necessarily during class time.
  

Position Requirements:

License: Completion of the IEC Apprenticeship program and a Georgia Electrical Contractors License is preferred.
Education: High School Graduate or GED. 
Experience: Actively performed work on electric systems in the construction, repair or design as they pertain to the residential, commercial or industrial industry for a minimum for five (5) years.
 

Working Conditions:

Work in a climate-controlled office setting with varying degrees of stress and time pressure.
Considerable amount of time making repetitive motions.
Considerable amount of time sitting.
Considerable amount of time using telephone and computer.
Sounds, noise levels may be distracting or uncomfortable.

Required Physical/Mental Functions:

Comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in Company Safety Handbook.
Read and interpret instructional manuals and written instructions.
Must hear and see well (either natural or with correction).
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead.
Able to lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
Tolerant to prolonged sitting.
Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
