Description

Electrical Contractor entering new work location seeking supervisor:

Purpose of Position: The Superintendent is responsible for supervising the installation, alteration, repair, replacement and maintenance of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment. Must meet strict daily and weekly project deadlines. Works directly for the Project Manager/Owner as advised.The Superintendent shall maintain appropriate relationships with client contacts in order to assure their satisfaction with work performed and to further this work. “Unqualified” workers are prohibited from working on energized circuits or equipment or within the limited approach boundary in accordance with the NFPA 70-E current version.


Job Functions: (Daily or Frequently)

 Demonstrate safe working procedures and reports unsafe working conditions and practices
 Directs work of Helpers, Electrician, Leadmen, Area Foreman, and Foreman as assigned to their job
 Lays out and plans work in advance in accordance with job schedule, plans and specifications
 Sets up the job office and equipment trailers and sees that permits, labor notices, safety rules, company, state, and federal regulations are posted in a conspicuous place.
 Ensures safety and other company mandated messages are properly delivered to work crews as instructed by the Company
 Ascertains that safety barricades are in proper place, safety lights properly operating, tools are secure, and good housekeeping is kept on their job sites
 Maintains a productive working relationship with the Project Manager/Procurement Manager/Owner, seeking his/her assistance in the scheduling of materials, equipment and subcontractors and assisting with change order estimates
 Attends pre-construction and construction meetings, taking notes on areas that may present a future problem and consult with PM to find resolution or submit RFI
 Ensures that all change orders are properly executed and indicated on as-built plans
 Assists Management in estimating percent of completion of each item for monthly invoicing and of labor for each job cost report and notifies Management of unforeseen problems that may develop
 Maintains good relationships with inspectors, architects, subcontractors and other key people connected with the project
 Creates/ completes short term interval (look ahead) schedules and pre-task plans
 Reviews attendance daily and submits time sheets and PTO request to Payroll on time each week
 Schedules job-site inspections and participates in “walk-throughs” and assists inspectors on their project reviews when necessary
 Attends job meetings, coordinates with other trades and owner representatives
 Completes and maintains company required files, forms and documents using software programs as required, such as Excel, Word, and/or Outlook
 Coordinates delivery, pick-up, and maintenance of heavy equipment on the project and supervises effective utilization
 Orders and tracks material in conjunction with Foreman
 Evaluates abilities and work ethic of direct reports
 Ensures employees under his/her supervision maintain Ireland Electric policies
 Responsible for ensuring well kept sanitary facilities are available for his/her workers

Functions Performed Often, or As Needed:

 Supervises and may be required to perform all functions of lower E-ratings

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

 Skilled at using basic office/business equipment and communication devices such as cell phones, computers, tablets, printers, etc.
 Has basic office computer skills and familiar with programs, such as Outlook, Excel, Word
 Recognizes the importance of keeping employee pay and personal information private
 Communications skills
 Read and interpret blueprints (all trades) and specifications for advanced work layout and planning
 Familiar and up to date on National Electrical Code
 Ability to positively identify colors of wires
 Travel to new job sites as business operations require
 Work required schedule (may be required nights or overtime to meet construction deadlines or handle emergencies)
 Understand and perform basic math functions and read tape measure
 Use tools properly and safely
 Work in restricted areas (manholes, crawl spaces, etc.)
 Work in all weather elements- heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.
 Perform work at heights from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks, roofs, or other areas occasionally or as job requires
 Perform work on ladders of all types and heights
 Must be able to use construction site sanitary facilities (porta-johns)
 Oversee multiple projects and crews to ensure quality performance and timely completions
